Tomorrow EURFC look to become back-to-back BUCS Super Rugby National Champions, things don’t get bigger than this. After a tireless season, Exeter face their rivals in Loughborough in what is set to be a classic match.
With both sides securing a win over the other in the regular season, Wednesday provides an opportunity for scores to be settled as Loughborough look to secure the league and championship titles whilst Exeter look to become back-to-back national champions.
Last time out in the semi-final Exeter proved their ability to play knock-out rugby coming out on top in a grudge match against Cardiff on the crumb; with Josh Barton pulling out a wonder try to secure their spot in the final.
Speaking this week fullback Dan John looked back on the previous knock-out games: “It’s probably the best preparation, all credit to both Cardiff’s they put out a great fight, but we were just too strong in the end. We’ll take the learnings from both games into the final and put in a good performance.”
With the final comes along a slightly sombre note for some as it’s their final opportunity to pull on the green and white hoops of EURFC and John reflected on that as well: “It’s been the last few weeks for some of the boys, myself included, so we’ve been trying to make the most of it everyone’s been enjoying themselves and in good spirits.”
Looking ahead to the challenge Loughborough pose in the final John said: “It’s going to be brilliant, obviously they beat us at their place and we beat them down here but we’re really looking forward to playing against them; they’re going to provide a big challenge”.

Head Coach Rich Hodges has kept exactly the same starting XV from the semi-final hoping that the side can secure another important victory.
On the bench, there’s only one change with Tom Cairns coming in as replacement scrum-half.
Games like this don’t come around often and is the pinnacle of any University Rugby player's career and is set to be a spectacle for all to enjoy.
