An 8th win in the bag and a chance to get to the halfway point of the season undefeated awaits the boys as they prepare Leeds Beckett on the Crumb.
Win number eight came against Bath as Exeter Uni recorded their 16th victory on the crumb to remain undefeated there. A nervy start to the game saw both sides score early, but 2 late tries but Exeter was on top at the break. The strong performance was completed in the second half with a try from Ellerby and a late McCaig penalty.
In an attempt to make it 16 games unbeaten, the boys will welcome Leeds Beckett. Our opponents come into this one in good form, having won their last 3 games and propelling themselves into 6th.
One player who despite being in and out of the team has been a big source of tries this year is Zach Wimbush.
Part of the Exeter Chiefs academy, the winger had to bide his time playing Nat 2 West last season as he waited to become a first-year student in 2023. 17 appearances and 4 tries later he made his debut at the start of against Nottingham.
His home debut was against rivals Loughborough, with this being his “favourite game of the season so far”.
The match saw us “score loads of tries” and “was a fun one to be a part of” summarises the view for all boys.
Making his Chiefs debut was also a huge moment for the Hong Kong-born winger, and getting a start earlier this season against London Scottish highlighted how highly he is rated.
Looking ahead to this week, the same message has been echoed across the squad as we have seen across the season so far—more of the same.
“Training has been pretty much the same as normal, just working hard for each other. We are just trying to work on our accuracy a little bit to make sure everything is perfect for matchday”.
TEAM NEWS
After a very impressive performance last week, DoR Gareth Elliot and Head Coach Rich Hodges have only made one change.
It sees Josh Cunningham make his first start since Round 3 in the back row, with Dorrell moving to 7 and Forsythe to 8. Seb Driscoll is ready in reserve and is expected to make a big impact late on.
The backline is unchanged, with plenty of deadly partnerships already formed and ready to strike.
There is a potential debutant on the bench, as Charlie Bell looks to follow in his brother’s footsteps and make a big impact on BUCS Super Rugby.
2 teams in great form throwing everything at each other, this game is not one to miss.
