After a tough defeat on home soil last week against Clifton, the boys look ahead to hosting Hornets in Round 18 of the National West League.
Last weekend, the boys fought to the end against a strong opposition, but Clifton proved to be the more powerful team, and came away with the win.
Exeter will need to focus on their strengths this week, and bring the momentum to Topsham against a powerful Hornets side. The focus and precision in training has been significant this week, with the Exeter side honing in on the fixture ahead.
Tomorrow's opponents:
Hornets are currently sitting at 10th place in the table, and they had a cracking game last week against Stourbridge, beating them 47-26. This week, the opponents will be determined to get their revenge after Exeter's close win with their last encounter, with an 8 point difference.
A familiar foe of ours, having been promoted alongside the University last season from the South West Premier, Hornets are a side that will look to cause a number of problems tomorrow afternoon. Finishing in third place with, in excess of 100 points last season, the yellow and blacks finished comfortably ahead of arch-rivals Weston-Super-Mare RFC who finished in 4th, securing promotion to the national leagues
Full-back Charlie Carter is definitely a player to look out for tomorrow, with one of the top try scorers for the team this season.
Team News:
Head Coach Rich Hodges has made five changes to the starting line up this week. Ellis Baldry comes in at hooker, joining the solid front row. Lucas Dorrell is starting at 6, after coming back from injury and Tommy Roberts also makes his debut after struggling with a shoulder injury for the last few months. Ed Volley makes his return at wing, alongside Jonny Searle starting at full back. Josh Cunningham is also making a start in the second row.
The consistent back-half pairing of Sam Walker and Jago Bailey remain, with centres Zack Wimbush and Dylan Power also maintaining their positions.
The bench sees some new faces, with Tom Henderson as replacement hooker and Archie Rolls as replacement prop. The familiar Josh Thorne as the replacement back row, after making an appearance in the BUCS Cardiff Met game on Wednesday. Tom Church comes in at scrum-half and Harvey Graham as a backs replacement.
