Following on from a fourth National 2 West victory in a row last weekend against Stourbridge, Exeter are back on the road for the third time this season, as we face Clifton RFC at Station Road.
Last weekend we hosted Stourbridge at Topsham. The visitors came out the blocks firing, taking control of the game. But by half time, Exeter had secured the lead for the first time in the game and had full control in the second half, running in another three tries. That victory means that Exeter currently sit at the top of the table.
Clifton have earned two decisive victories in recent weeks against Old Redcliffians and Stourbridge; a high scoring encounter this weekend is to be expected between two of the current top four.
Team News:
Exeter have made seven changes to last weeks starting line-up that edged out the victory against Stourbridge.
Chris Freeman is promoted from last week's bench to start at loose-head, Oliver Webb moves to the bench with Harvey Dunn coming in at hooker. The rest of the pack remains unchanged.
It’s a new pairing this week at nine and ten with Jake Murray and Harvey Graham starting respectively. Murray returns to EURFC, having made a try-scoring impact for Harlequins in Wednesday's Premiership Cup clash with Saracens. Archie Hill and Zack Wimbush remain the centre pairing from last week and Ed Thomas who started on the wing against Stourbridge moves to full back.
The wing pairing is also completely fresh, with Kitan Ojo starting for the first time ever after being injured all last season on the right wing and Ed Volley starting on the left.
Tomorrow’s Opponents:
Clifton Rugby Club was formed on 27th September 1872 at the Kings Arms on Blackboy Hill in Clifton, Bristol. The pub still stands, although it was rebuilt in 1902, and since refurbishment in the late 1990's was known as Bohemia. They are the 33rd oldest club in the United Kingdom, the 22nd oldest in England, the 2nd oldest in the South West.
Clifton are missing two key players in Joe Owen and Sam Worlsey for this one due to their involvement in Wednesday's Bristol Bears Premiership Rugby Cup defeat to Exeter Chiefs at Ashton Gate.
Opposition Players to Watch:
Fin Sharp - Wing: The league's top try scorer with 7 to his name so far this season, EURFC will have to keep Sharp quiet tomorrow afternoon if they want to secure a fifth straight victory.
Will Owen - Centre: The second top try scorer in the league with 6. Owen will be another to pose a serious threat to the EURFC defence tomorrow afternoon.
Getting There:
Car: If travelling from Exeter, take the M5 towards Bristol, leaving at junction 18. Pick up the B4054 and continue until you reach Station Road.
