1. I NEED HELP NOW

Visiting this page to find out what support options are available is a great first step.

If you don't feel like you can keep yourself safe right now, please seek help as soon as you can.

AVAILABLE SUPPORT

If you feel you are in acute danger, please do not hesitate to call 999. The A&E department in Exeter has a mental health team (called the liaison psychiatry team) that will be able to speak to you at any time of day, there and then. They will usually take an hour to talk to you, find out what is going on and how you can best be supported. More information on seeking help from A&E can be found here.

If you are on campus you are also able to call Estate Patrol on 01392 722222. All staff have been trained how to work with suicidal thoughts and will be able to give you practical support, such as giving you a lift to the hospital.

The Wellbeing Services on campus has a small number of on the day ‘duty’ appointments for urgent concerns. These are available on a first come first serve basis, so if possible try and call in the morning, when the service opens. If you feel like you could benefit from speaking to a practitioner on the day please call them on 01392 724381 stating that you require a duty appointment.

If you feel able to, try and speak to a friend or someone that you trust.

HELPLINES
If you would rather have a chat with someone on the phone, there are plenty of helplines available at any time of day. Please click here for more information.
